Hello, I am Justin posting for Day 3 of the Perth trip. Day 3 was quite a short day because we only visited a wildlife park and, art galleries and museums to appreciate the Australian's aboriginal and cultural art. There was no work done on that day.
First of all, we were packing our luggages and clearing up all the rubbish and litter that we have left in the apartment in the morning so that we would be ready to set off for another day of activities. We had the feeling of disappointment because we had no choice but to leave the cozy and comfortable apartment that we had been living in for 2 nights. When we reached the dining hall for a sumptuous breakfast, we left our luggages outside the hall. The breakfast was not very different from the one we had the previous day except that we had beef for that day. When our stomachs were filled full, it was time for us to leave the farm where we had our precious time and moments with the animals in the farm. Before we left, we thanked Mr David for his patience and concern towards us. Soon, we were on board the bus to depart the farm for Caversham Wildlife Park.
While we were on the bus, our friendly bus captain, Anton*(not sure of the spelling so pardon me if it is wrong), was chatting happily away with the teachers as well as the students. In fact, he was very forgiving because some of the tired students were dozing off while he was talking to us about Perth but he did not mind. About half an hour later, we arrived at the Caversham Wildlife Park. The entrance of the park made us very curious of the things inside and some of us had adventurous spirits so we were rushing into the park to get a look at the cute and famous animals like kangaroos and koalas. When we entered, we took some animal food from a container to feed the hungry kangaroos first. Most of the kangaroos had joeys in their pouch. It was quite interesting to see the head of the joey popping out from the mother's pouch! As they were munching on the food, some of us took pictures of them. Next, the guide of the park asked if each of us wanted a camel ride for A$4. Most of us did not hesitate to take on the ride and we were even too happy to ride on a camel than to refuse. However, the ride was quite short as it lasted for only about 5 minutes but we thought that the money we paid was worth it. When the time spent on the rides was too much, we were told to move on. Again, we were given some animal food to feed a giant pig a horse and several sheeps. The sheeps were fighting among themselves for the food and we were delighted to see them running all about. After that, we went to see some reptiles which included snakes and lizards. The girls thought that these creatures were very eerie and scary but most of the boys were very interested in them. We also snapped some pictures of them and we noticed that most of them were not moving. Some of us were thinking, "Are they dead?". Then, we proceeded to an area where there were different kinds of birds and mammals like parrots, an emu and bats. As usual, some of us took some pictures of them before going on to see the popular koalas. The koalas, which meant an animal that lives in a tree and an animal that does not drink water, were living and feeding on the Eucalyptus leaves. Most of them were sleeping due to the lack of nutrition in their diet. They were so cute and charming that some of the girls could not stop snapping pictures of them. Next, we visited the Tasmanian devils and we saw them roaming about their habitat freely. They were called "Tasmanian devils" because they had ears which were red and similar to that of a devil.
After spending about almost 2 hours in the Caversham Wildlife Park, all of our stomachs were growling so we travelled to a restaurant by bus to have our lunch. After finishing our meal, we were on board the bus again for Western Australian Museum (WAM). When we reached our destination, we were awed by the beautiful designs and models of prehistoric animals such as dinosaurs. We thought that it would be a waste for not capturing pictures of these arts so we took out our cameras. We were surprised that none of the staff stopped us so we continued snapping photos of them. There was also a skeletal structure of the largest land mammal that had been extinct and we were amazed by how enormous the animal was in the past. There were also photographs of extinct animals put up on the walls of the museum. Due to the limited time that we had, we did not manage to look at all the things in the museum. Dinner was next so we went to another restaurant before going to the City Stay Apartment to check-in.
Upon arrival in our apartment, many of us complained about the poor conditions of the facilities such as the air conditioner which was old and the ceiling fans which were not functioning well. Morever, there was no heater to keep us warm so there was frustration among us. Despite the facilities, we were extremely tired and exhausted from a day of activities and fun so we still slept soundly for the night.
That is all for Day 3 and I hoped you enjoyed reading it because I had really put in my efforts into this post. Thank you very much.=D
